The Mujii Vase Lamp was designed as a soft, oblate, pebble-like form with a silicone exterior that feels warm, gentle, and comforting to the touch. Instead of buttons, the lamp uses a squish-activated interface, allowing users to turn on the light with a simple press—no searching, no sharp feedback, no visual strain.

Beyond nighttime use, the lamp also functions as a study and reading light, creating a quiet zone of focus and solitude. The same softness that comforts at night supports longer periods of calm concentration, turning the lamp into a ritual object—one that users associate with rest, focus, and intentional moments.

The lamp was first designed around the body—touch, sleep, and focus.
The plant sanctuary emerged naturally as a way to extend that calm into care for living things. The small plant or flower in the Mujii Vase Lamp represents more than decoration—it acts as a quiet presence in the room. In moments of solitude, rest, or focus, it becomes a gentle reminder of life and care, much like a silent friend sharing the space with you.By placing the plant at the center of the lamp, the object shifts from being purely functional to relational. You’re not just turning on a light—you’re tending to something living. This subtle act of care builds emotional attachment and routine, especially in environments where people often feel alone.

The built-in mini humidifier extends the lamp’s core purpose: creating a comfortable, supportive environment for both body and mind. Just as the soft light and tactile form calm the senses, the gentle mist supports breathing, skin comfort, and overall well-being—especially at night or during long periods of focus.

Rather than introducing a separate appliance, the humidifier is quietly embedded into an object already present in moments of rest, study, and solitude. This keeps the experience intentional and uncluttered, aligning with Muji’s philosophy of doing more with less.

While Muji excels at minimalist aesthetics, this design addresses a gap in sensory-first interaction. The Mujii Vase Lamp elevates minimalism by making it emotionally and physically intuitive, transforming lighting from a functional object into a comforting ritual companion.

At night, when people wake up disoriented, harsh light and hard buttons feel stressful. A soft, tactile lamp lets them interact without fully waking up.

Before sleep, people crave rituals that help them unwind. Gentle light, mist, and touch create a predictable, soothing routine the body can relax into.

During focus or study, people want solitude without overstimulation. A warm, contained glow helps create a quiet mental boundary for concentration.

In small homes, clutter adds stress. One object that replaces multiple devices simplifies both space and mind.
